My research focuses on the long-lived nature of resident memory T cells in nonlymphoid tissues. I am investigating the cell-intrinsic and environmental factors within diverse tissue microenvironments that may support the longevity of the resident memory T cell population. Additionally, my research challenges the conventional view that nonlymphoid tissues harbor a finite capacity for memory T cells. By studying population dynamics of a pre-existing resident memory population following additional microbial exposure, I can address the durability of tissue-resident memory T cells. Investigating these questions will inform therapeutic strategies that seek to harness or mitigate the function resident memory T cells.
